tomorrow.

I sort of love the fact that tomorrow, my first day of class, October 11th, is also the first day I spent in Paris one year ago.

Although I am happy with the journal I kept of that trip, I’ll never be able to really find the words to describe what that experience meant to me. I do know that the feeling I had that first night in the gardens of Notre Dame had a lot to do with where I am now, one year later, sitting in my friend’s house in Sunnyvale, nervous and excited and hopeful and nervous again.

So, tomorrow we begin. Cathy will drop me off at the Caltrain station on her way to work. The first day’s class doesn’t start until 1pm, so I’m happy for the extra time to get familiar with the train, get my bearings in the city, walk the route to the class location, and worry about whether I’m dressed appropriately. (The information packet said “sporty casual.” I do not know what this means.)

I’m nervous. Of course I am. I can’t pretend that I’m still not pushing through some fear and doubt from time to time. But it’s giving me confidence, I think. For once, I’m not taking the path of least resistance.

And that feels good. Scary, but good.
